Brazilian Agate Bookends

BK503c  This is a pretty, larger set of Purple (color enhanced) Brazilian Agate Geode bookends.  This set measures  4 3/4" tall and 7 3/4" in width when pushed together x 2 1/2" thick.

Agates mostly occur as nodules in volcanic rocks or waters containing silica in solution possibly derived from the decomposition of silicates in the lava.  The siliceous matter is deposited in regular layers resulting in the banded or striped formation.

Brazilian Agate Bookends

BK506c    Here is a pretty set of Natural (color enhanced) Brazilian Agate Geode bookends.  This set measures 4 3/4"x 5" x 3" with a polished front face.  The bookends have a nice Geode Crystal center.  Something different for the rock collector or make it a super gift.

Agates mostly occur as nodules in volcanic rocks or waters containing silica in solution possibly derived from the decomposition of silicates in the lava.  The siliceous matter is deposited in regular layers resulting in the banded or striped formation.

      Orthoceras Bookends

BK500c  This is a nice larger set of Black Orthoceras Fossil bookends from Morocco. This set measures 6 1/4" x 8" x 2". These have been chipped and polished to expose the fossils on the front and the fossil areas polished.  They are also polished in the center, top and side areas and have an interesting dotted design on the front face.

Orthoceras was a marine cephalopod, this particular species was straight shelled and they thrived some 400+ million years ago in the Paleozoic era.  It was a slender, elongated shell fossil that is related to the mollusk and cephalopod families and is found world wide.

Sandstone Bookends

BK501b   Here is a smaller, very nice set of Sandstone bookends from Arizona.  This set measures 9 1/4" x 4 3/4" x 2 1/4" with a natural rough exterior.  These sets have a felt cushion in the center and bottom areas for additional protection.

Sandstone is a sedimentary rock composed mainly of sand size mineral or rock grains.  Most Sandstone is composed of Quartz and/or Feldspar because these are the most common minerals in the earth's crust.  It can be almost any color.  The Sandstone beds often form highly visible cliffs and are strongly identified with certain regions of the world.
