5/8" and
has a nice polish. This egg has a nice pale blue color and is from Peru.

Angelite is a recent discovery in the gem and mineral world, found in
Peru in 1987. Angelite or Blue Anhydrite as it's also know as, is most
commonly blue-gray but may a white, gray, colorless and even violet. Anhydrite
is a relatively common Sedimentary mineral that forms massive rock layers
as the result of the dewatering of the rock-forming gypsum. Fine specimens
have been found in Mexico and Peru showing good crystal habitat, a nice blue
color and even a internal play of light in the crystal.

Quartz is the second most common mineral in the Earth's continental
crust. It is mainly composed of Silica or Silica based minerals.
Although Quartz is known by a variety of names, the most important
distinction between types of Quartz is that of macro-crystalline,
individual crystals visible to the unaided eye, and micro-crystalline,
where aggregates of crystals are only visible under high magnification.
There are many forms of Quartz including Chalcedony, Amethyst, Citrine,
and Carnelian which are results of mineral impurities or heat treatments.

pre-existing rocks due to changes in heat and/or pressure and/or introduction
of fluids without melting. It is composed mostly of Limestone and Calcite.

This is a very nice
Pyrite egg with several crystal-like lined natural cavities. These
eggs are hand-polished and therefore may have some flat areas that are
quite common for this type of material. This neat egg measures nearly 1 1/2" x 1
3/4".
This material is from Peru.

Pyrite, or Iron Pyrite, is an Iron sulfide with isometric Crystals that
usually appear as cubes. It is brittle and can break or powder easily.
Its metallic luster and brass yellow hue have earned it the nickname of "fool's
gold" due to many miners mistaken it for the real thing. Ironically,
small quantities of actual gold are sometimes found in Pyrite. It is
the most common of the sulfide minerals and is usually found with other sulfides
or oxides in Quartz veins, sedimentary or metamorphic rocks.

Here is a very interesting smaller egg carved from Chiastolite.
It measures over 1 3/8" x 1" and has a nice polish. This egg has a dark Brown
color with darker Black cross-shaped inclusions of Graphite. It has
a rough spot on one side but still displays nicely. A very
special egg for a special person. Another photo

Chiastolite is a variety of Andalusite that is noted for a distinctive
cross-shaped black inclusions of Graphite. Andalusite is a metamorphic
mineral which forms under low pressure and moderate to high temperatures.
It is often referred to as "Lapis Crucifer" in ancient texts. It is
often brown in color but may have a yellow, orange, pink or violet tint.

Ocean Jasper is a variety of Jasper which contains variable colored
orbicules or spherical inclusions. The material is quite attractive
when polished and is used as an ornamental stone or gemstone. The colors
and designs range widely and are dependant on the location of the material.
Similar material can be found in several areas of the United States.

Jasper, or spotted stone, is an opaque, impure variety of Quartz that
is usually red, yellow or brown in color. Some Jaspers simultaneously
exhibit several variants such as banding, flow patterns, dendrites or
color variations. This results in what appears to be scenes or images in
a cut section of the Jasper.

Obsidian is a type of naturally-occurring glass formed as
an extrusive igneous rock. It is produced when felsic lava erupted from
a volcano, cools rapidly through the glass transition temperature and freezes
without sufficient time for Crystal growth. Because of the lack of Crystal
structure, Obsidian blade edges can reach almost molecular thinness, leading
to its ancient use of projectile points (arrow heads), and its modern use
as surgical scalpel blades.

rocks and is often associated with Gypsum, Anhydrite and Halite. Pale
blue Crystal specimens are found in Madagascar.
