masses in anorthosite and shows an iridescence or "play of colors."
Gemstone varieties of Labradorite exhibiting a high degree of

Here is a gorgeous Black Skin Agate Heart from India. This heart measures
2 3/4" in length by nearly 2 1/2" in height by nearly 1 1/2"

Agates mostly occur as nodules in volcanic rocks or waters containing
silica in solution possibly derived from the decomposition of silicates
in the lava. The siliceous matter is deposited in regular layers
resulting in the banded or striped formation.

Septarian, also know as a type of Concretion, is a volume of sedimentary
rock in which a mineral cement fills the porosity. Concretions are
often ovoid or spherical in shape. They form within layers of sedimentary
strata that has already been deposited. It is composed of a Carbonate
mineral such as Calcite, a Silica such as Chert, Flint or Jasper or an
Iron Oxide such as Goethite or Hematite. It is commonly found in
Shale, Siltstones and Sandstones.

Moonstone is a gemstone quality Feldspar. It has a sparkly
appearance that is caused by light reflecting off flakes of Hematite.
Moonstone is sometimes known as Orthoclase due to the cleavages in the
material and pearly luster. It is commonly found in most Granites and
other felsic igneous rock and in Pegmatite masses.

Here is something different for the heart
collector. This is a smaller, above average quality Lapis Heart.
The Heart measures approximately 1" x 1"x 1/2" and has a good polish.
These hearts come from us to you randomly from the bag but are a higher
quality than some we have had in the past. The colors range from
Blue to White to Gold. Some have sparkly Pyrite inclusions and some
have more of a spotted design. Unfortunately there is no choice
in color or design. The Heart you will receive will be similar to
one that is shown in the photo. Lapis is a
stone with a long tradition of being considered a gem. It is usually
deep blue in color and is opaque. It is a rock and not a mineral
as it is made up from various other minerals. The main component
is Lazurite which is a Feldspar Silicate. Lapis may also contain
Calcite, Sodalite and Pyrite. It is found worldwide.

Marble is a metamorphic rock consisting of Limestone but composed
mostly of Calcite. It is used extensively for sculpture, building
materials and has many decorative uses. The pure white Marble is
probably the most common form known, but the characteristic swirls and
veins of many colored Marble varieties are usually due to various mineral
impurities such as Clay, Silt, Sand, Iron Oxides or Chert.

Dalmatian Stone, or orbicular Rhyolite, is an igneous rock that was
formed by lava flows on the Earth's surface. The spots or "orbs"
probably occurred when molten lava reacted with fragments of rock
known as Xenoliths. These stones are light to dark tan in color with
black spots throughout. The nickname "Dalmatian" was given to this
unusual looking mineral because of its resemblance to a Dalmatian
dog's spots. |

Rose Quartz is a type of Quartz which exhibits a pale pink to rose
red hue. The color is usually considered as due to trace amounts of
Titanium, Iron or Manganese, in the massive material. Some Rose
Quartz contains microscopic Rutile needles which produce an asterism
in transmitted light

It measures nearly 1 3/4" in length, 1/4" in width, and 1 1/2" in
height and has a nice polish. This pretty heart is very sparkly and

Goldstone is a type of man-made glass with Copper or Copper salts
made by a reducing flame. The most common form of Goldstone give the
illusion of being a reddish-brown, although in fact the color comes
from the Copper crystals and the glass itself is colorless. Other
variants have an intensely color matrix usually blue or violet, and
more rare, green.

Heart. It measures 2" in length, 3/4" in width, and 1 3/4" in

Jade, or Jadeite, is a Silicate mineral made from a Sodium and
Aluminum mix that is usually found in igneous and/or metamorphic
rocks. Jade is as hard as Quartz, is exceptionally tough, beautifully
colored and can be delicately shaped or carved. |

It is a very common material that has a black to steel to silver-grey
color and may also appear reddish brown. Hematite is a heavy metal

This material is a new find from Madagascar. The deposit formed
as a rhyolite flow but has been completely silicified. The Rhyolitic eyes
or orbs come in an astonishing array of colors and color combinations.
The back ground can be white, pink, green, red, or yellow. Botryoidal
formations as well as white and deep green druzy are also common. This
deposit has been discovered at the edge of the ocean. It can only be seen
and collected at low tide. The area has no road so the material must be
transported to civilization by boat. This material is fast becoming
a rarity in the Jasper ocean fields, so get one while it is still available.

continental crust. It is mainly composed of Silica or Silica based
minerals. Although Quartz is known by a variety of names, the most
important distinction between types of Quartz is that of
macro-crystalline, individual crystals visible to the unaided eye, and
micro-crystalline, where aggregates of crystals are only visible under
high magnification. There are many forms of Quartz including
Chalcedony, Amethyst, Citrine, and Carnelian which are results of
mineral impurities or heat treatments.
