This is a natural copper specimen just as you would find it on the surface of the ground.  Commonly called float copper it is found in glacial sand and gravels.  The piece has been polished on several of the surface areas to show the gleaming copper beneath.  It measures nearly 4" x 2 3/8" x 1 3/8" and weighs in at 1 lbs and 5.5 oz.

Ammonites had a multi-chambered shell, and added more chambers as it grew, always living in the outer chamber.  They lived in the Cretaceous period some 63 to 130 million years ago.
