This is a very pretty, beautifully colored Poly-Chrome Jasper sphere with
a very interesting pattern. It measures nearly 2 1/2" in diameter with
a nice polish. This material is from Madagascar. This sphere has
a unique Green color which we have found to be uncommon in most of the Poly
Chrome Jasper we have acquired. Close observation may reveal some flattened
areas which are fairly common to this type of Jasper. Jasper, or
spotted stone, is an opaque, impure variety of Quartz that is usually red,
yellow or brown in color. Picture Jaspers simultaneously exhibit several
variants such as banding, flow patterns, dendrites or color variations.
This results in what appears to be scenes or images in a cut section of the
Jasper.

SP501c Here
is a very nice, above average quality Marble sphere. It measures 3 1/8"
in diameter and has a nice polish. It has a good mix of color and a
very unique design. This is a must have for any sphere collector.
Marble is a metamorphic rock consisting of Limestone but composed mostly
of Calcite. It is used extensively for sculpture, building materials
and has many decorative uses. The pure white Marble is probably the
most common form known, but the characteristic swirls and veins of many colored
Marble varieties are usually due to various mineral impurities such as Clay,
Silt, Sand, Iron Oxides or Chert.

sphere. It measures 2" in diameter and has a rough texture instead of
a polished finish. This sphere has several small cavity like openings.

minerals. It is a complex Silicate of Aluminum and Boron and the composition
varies widely with Sodium, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Lithium and many other
elements that enter into it's structure. It can occur in a long, slender
needle-like crystal to a thick prismatic and columnar crystal to a radial
like daisy formation. It comes in many colors usually black and brown
(iron rich); brown and yellow (magnesium rich); and blue, red, green, yellow,
and pink (lithium rich).

is a nice, larger Pakistani Onyx sphere from Pakistan. It measures 4
3/4" in diameter and has a good polish. The sphere has a nice range
of colors, including Green and Brown, and a good stripe design. A nice
addition to any collection. Onyx is a banded variety of Chalcedony
which in turn is a form of Quartz. The colors of its bands range from
white to almost every color except shades of purple, blue and black.
It is used for vases, bowls, beads, cabochons and other items. The name
has sometimes been used incorrectly to label other banded lapidary materials,
such as banded Calcite. This type is found in Mexico and Pakistan and
is often carved, polished and sold. The material is much softer than
true Onyx and much more readily available.
